PLEASE CONSIDER HELPING WITH OUR EXPENSES

As you will know running any web site is no longer the free for all that it once was, in fact our hosting costs have literally "gone through the roof"! Because of this we have been forced to increase the advertising content on the Horsted Keynes web site although the income from net advertising is still very small amounting to perhaps a few pounds a month, hardly a fortune! If you, like us, don't like intrusive internet advertising PLEASE do consider helping with our costs by making a small donation.

Whilst YOU can get a free basic site included with your internet connection this is really not good enough when you have a site as large as HorstedKeynes.Com. With more than 110 pages containing over 70Meg of content, plus numerous old photographs, most simply not available anywhere else on the internet, and with a thousand or more visitors each day we need a site with reliable professional hosting and the costs for this increases every year.

We have now paid out well over £6000 of our own money since starting up  the popular village web site HorstedKeynes.Com some seven years ago.

Despite being one of the more popular village sites in the UK with links both to and from the BBC and other important international internet web sites and with an average 60,000 hits a month, advertising revenue is still minimal. It now costs us getting on for £1000 a year just for our internet connection and hosting, not to mention all the free time that we devote to the regular updates!

In all this time we have neither asked for nor received ANY formal financial help at all, and whilst a few villagers have helped us where they can the time has now come to ask if YOU will help contribute towards our running costs.

If you have found HorstedKeynes.Com useful or interesting and do feel able to help please click one of the donate button at the top of this page and you will be transferred to the British based PayPal web site. Here you can use any credit or debit card in complete security to donate any amount from 1p upwards.

If you want your village to keep its presence on the internet please consider lending us a financial hand. To see what might happen in the future just take a quick look at www.danehill.com or www.lindfield.com . Scary isn't it?!

Whilst we are not at this stage suggesting that we will have to pull the plug if we don't receive help, it is true to say that the cost of running the enlarged HorstedKeynes.Com web site is now putting a considerable strain on our personal budgets and this simply cannot continue for ever.

Many thanks from your village webmasters.

INSTEAD OF DONATING PLEASE GIVE US A CLICK!

If you are not able to help us financially at present please as an alternative just click on some of the Google ads that you will see scattered about this web site. With this sort of advertising we are only paid "by the click", so the more clicks that you make the more that we earn - UP TO A POINT.
Google aren't stupid and they know that if someone clicks every ad on every page on a web site they are probably doing it for reasons other than interest in the adverts! Therefore if you click every ad ALL your clicks are ignored and we earn nothing! So a few of clicks on a few pages would be the ideal, do it regually once or twice a month and you really can contribute towards our expences!
May we stress that you do NOT need to buy anything - unless you want to of course. Just click on some Google ads and in a short time we earn a couple of cents towards running your web site! Thanks.

P.S. We have always tried our best to run this site for the benefit of both visitors and villagers alike. However there are always people who think that they can do any job better and one or two people have not been reluctant to let us know! Let us confirm therefore that should someone else want to take over control of this site we are always ready to discuss the matter. Had we not registered the HorstedKeynes.Com domain when we did seven years ago then it is certain that by now a cyber speculation company would have snapped up our domain address and control would have moved away from the village. Once a web site is registered elsewhere it is usually extremely expensive to regain local control. Take a look at Lindfield.com or DaneHill.com for just two examples of what we mean and consider what www.horstedkeynes.com might have been!
